SHI Wins Order for Two LNG Carriers Worth KRW 441.6 Billion

Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 20th that it had won the order for two LNG carriers worth about USD 0.4 billion (KRW 441.6 billion) from Gaslog, a logistics company based in Monaco.

The LNG carriers will have a capacity of 174,000㎥ of LNG, and will be delivered by the second half of 2016.


So far this year, Samsung Heavy Industries has won orders for 11 units of LNG carriers (including one LNG-FSRU). As only 26 units of LNG carriers have been ordered globally this year, the orders won by Samsung Heavy Industries account for 42% of the total. Samsung Heavy Industries has also maintained its No. 1 global market share of 28% by winning orders for 110 units of LNG carriers out of the 388 units ordered globally since 1996.


So far this year, Samsung Heavy Industries has won USD 10.7 billion in orders, which is 82% of its annual order target of USD 13 billion.
