Global marineterminal operator DP World announced today announced on, Monday November 1, the successfulcompletion and official opening of Phase 1 of the expansion of its Spanish terminal, DPWorld Tarragona.
Three Super Post-Panamax cranes capable of handling vessels with a nominal capacityof over 13,800 TEU (twenty foot equivalent container units) were also commissioned,adding to the two Panamax cranes and harbour crane already in use and boosting theterminal’s overall efficiency.
The facility has a mooring line of over 800 m and a railterminal. The commissioning of the new quay, yard and cranes took place during a ceremonyattended by some 350 people, including José Blanco, Spain’s Development Minister,José Montilla, President of the Autonomous Government of Catalan Province, where DPWorld Tarragona is located, and Flemming Dalgaard, DP World’s Senior Vice Presidentand Managing Director for Europe & Russia, as well as customers and partners.
