Rolls-Royce Signs Agreement with STX Engine

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has signed an agreement with STX Engine Co. Ltd. STX Engine, based in Korea, will become a packager ofRolls-Royce industrial gas turbine generating sets in the Asia Pacific region.

MHI to License MET Turbocharger

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Doosan of Korea have signed an agreement under which MHI will license manufacturing and marketing of its MET Turbocharger, a supercharger for marine diesel engines, to the Korean firm. By establishing a collaborative relationship with Doosan Engine, MHI aims for further penetration of the MET Turbocharger in Korea, the world leader in diesel engine production.

DSME Signes a $800M Deal With Sovcomflot

South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering announced today that on October 20th they signed a newbuilding contract with the state-owned Sovcomflot to build a total of 12 Aframax crude/product carriers (including vessels to be built in Russia and optional units) worth around $800m.

Kockums launches submarine for Singapore Navy

MAN Announces Ultra-Long-Stroke Engine

The first G-type engine, designated G80ME-C1, has a design that follows the principles of the large-bore Mk-9 engine series that MAN Diesel & Turbo introduced in 2006. The G-type is designed with a longer stroke to reduce engine speed, thereby paving the way for ship designs with unprecedented high-efficiency.
